The study on the time lag of water level in the Three Gorges Reservoir under the regulation processes

Abstract The identification of the water level time lag (WLTL) under regulation processes is great significance for environmental impact, flood control, and sediment transport huge reservoirs. traditional hydrodynamic method can calculate inflow process change along river channel, but it difficult to estimate difference reservoir fluctuation dispatching process. To quantitatively evaluate effect on WLTL in Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR), daily data from 2011 2017 five stations TGR are analyzed this paper. results revealed that there a significant April 1 October 31. gap between end Dam (TGD) largest, reaching 23.67 m July 2. longer distance TGD, lag. Furthermore, also different at four operating periods year. During low operation period high period, 3 days which greatest, while decline rise within 2 days.
